Tanzania Northern Circuit 5 Days Big Five Safari
From elephant herds and baobab valleys in Tarangire to predator-dense plains of Serengeti and the natural amphitheater of Ngorongoro Crater, this safari balances distance, wildlife time, and comfort.
You will be picked up from Arusha by your driver/guide and proceed to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. Tarangire is defined by the Tarangire River, which attracts large concentrations of wildlife, especially during the dry season when animals migrate from the Maasai Steppe. The landscape is dotted with ancient baobab trees and wide open savannah. The park is also home to rare and endangered species such as the Greater Kudu, Fringe-Eared Oryx, and Ashy Starling. Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch overlooking the river—while keeping an eye on the park’s clever monkeys. After a full day of wildlife viewing, continue to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Dinner and Overnight: Marera Valley Lodge
After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying a scenic game drive along the way. The route passes through misty highland forests where sightings may include buffalo, baboons, elephants, and occasionally leopards. The drive to Serengeti takes approximately four hours. Optional stops (at extra cost) include: Maasai Boma Visit Olduvai Gorge Upon arrival in Central Serengeti, enjoy an afternoon game drive across the vast plains, home to massive herds of wildebeest and zebra, giraffes, antelope, elephants, and top predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Dinner and Overnight: Tamba Tented Camp
Begin the day with an early morning sunrise game drive, the best time to observe predator activity. Watch lions and leopards hunt as the plains glow with first light. Optional: A sunrise hot air balloon safari with champagne breakfast can be arranged at an additional cost. After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. Your guide will select routes that maximize chances of spotting the Big Five and, seasonally, the Great Wildebeest Migration. Return to camp in the evening for rest and relaxation. Dinner and Overnight: Tamba Tented Camp
Enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti before departing towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area via a different route, increasing chances of spotting wildlife missed earlier. Expect continued sightings of large herds, graceful giraffes, elephants, and a strong predator presence including lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and jackals. Later in the day, arrive at your lodge near Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight. Dinner and Overnight: Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World. This vast volcanic caldera supports over 120 species of mammals, including all members of the Big Five. Ngorongoro is one of the best places in Africa to spot the endangered black rhinoceros, alongside hippos, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, antelope, and a dense concentration of predators. After the crater tour, drive back to Arusha for your onward flight.
