Calving Season Experience 6 Days Luxury tour
Starting from: $ 950
Your journey starts with pickup by your Driver-Guide, followed by a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park. The park reveals a classic African landscape filled with sweeping savannahs, towering baobab trees, and the wildlife-rich Tarangire River. During the dry months, immense herds migrate from the Maasai steppe into Tarangire, creating exceptional game-viewing opportunities. Rare sightings such as the Fringe-Eared Oryx, Greater Kudu, and Ashy Starling add to the park’s character. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the river—though be mindful, as monkeys here are notorious for eyeing unattended food. After a full day of exploring, you continue to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.
After breakfast, the adventure continues through the Ngorongoro Highlands before descending into the iconic Serengeti. The drive itself offers game-viewing opportunities, with plains dotted by grazing herbivores, big cats resting in the shade, and dramatic skies stretching endlessly across the horizon. You arrive at your lodge in time to unwind before dinner.
Your morning begins with a game drive through the Serengeti as you make your way south toward the Ndutu region—the heart of the calving season. As you approach the short-grass plains, the concentration of wildlife increases, with large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and countless newborn calves dotting the landscape. Predators also gather here, making this one of the most intense wildlife zones in Africa during this period.
This day is dedicated entirely to exploring Ndutu during the calving season. The short-grass plains offer rich nutrients that attract hundreds of thousands of wildebeest who birth their calves in synchrony. The abundance of newborns draws lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and other predators, creating dramatic interactions throughout the day. Your guide will position you for the best photographic and viewing opportunities while ensuring a calm and respectful distance from the wildlife. It’s a day filled with raw nature, open plains, and unforgettable moments.
Enjoy a final morning exploration in the Ndutu area before driving toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The scenery transitions from open plains to lush highlands as you ascend toward the crater rim. You’ll arrive at your lodge in time to relax and enjoy the evening.
The day begins with a descent into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. Often called one of the wonders of Africa, the crater is a thriving haven for wildlife, home to more than 120 mammal species, including the Big Five. It’s an excellent place to spot the critically endangered black rhino, large prides of lions, massive buffalo herds, and an abundant variety of herbivores. The crater’s unique ecosystem creates some of the most reliable and concentrated game viewing on the continent. After a rewarding day of exploration and a picnic lunch on the crater floor, you ascend the rim and return to Arusha for your onward journey.
