Conquer Kilimanjaro Through the Scenic Lemosho Route

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Meet your trekking guide and team for a briefing about the Lemosho Route, your itinerary, equipment, and safety measures. Overnight stay in the hotel allows you to rest and acclimatize before the adventure begins.
After breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate on the western side of Kilimanjaro. Complete the park formalities and begin your trek through the Lemosho Glades, a lush rainforest filled with exotic plants, birds, and wildlife. Enjoy the serene surroundings as you ascend gradually, helping your body acclimatize. Camp overnight at Shira 1, absorbing the tranquil forest atmosphere.
Continue trekking across the Shira Plateau, a wide moorland offering panoramic views of Kibo Peak. The landscape transforms into volcanic rocks, heather, and giant lobelias. Spend the afternoon exploring the area and acclimatizing at Shira 2 Camp, appreciating the dramatic vistas and open skies.
Descend slightly from Shira Plateau toward Barranco Camp, passing through Lava Tower at 4600 meters. The route takes you through varying ecological zones, including alpine desert landscapes. Take your time to adjust to the altitude, and enjoy the unique scenery of rocks and sparse vegetation as you approach Barranco Valley. Overnight at Barranco Camp.
Climb the iconic Barranco Wall, a steep but manageable rock face offering spectacular views. After the climb, traverse the Karanga Valley toward Karanga Camp. The route continues to challenge your endurance while offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Overnight stay at Karanga Camp.
Trek through the alpine desert to reach Barafu Camp, your high-altitude base for the summit attempt. Use the afternoon to rest, hydrate, and prepare for the early morning climb. Watch the sunset over Kibo and Mawenzi peaks, a moment of quiet anticipation before the final ascent. Overnight at Barafu Camp.
Begin your summit attempt around midnight. Trek through the night toward Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point, reaching the summit in time to witness a spectacular sunrise over the plains. After celebrating your achievement, begin the descent to Mweka Camp, passing through alpine desert and moorland landscapes. Overnight stay at Mweka Camp allows you to recover from the climb.
Complete the trek by descending through the forest to Mweka Gate, where you receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for a well-deserved rest, shower, and celebratory dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. Reflect on the incredible journey, the diverse landscapes, and the achievement of standing atop Africa’s highest peak.
